Best Management Practices
As of March 15, 2013, a total of 18 stormwater detention basins have been installed in and around dirt road stream crossings in Deadwater Creek and Binion Creek watersheds. From November 2011 through December 2012 the impoundments have captured and removed over 100 tons of sediment. This low-tech approach to preventing sedimentation of the North River Watershed highlights the Watershed Management Plan’s emphasis for sound, low cost, and reasonable methods for increasing the water quality of streams and drainage in the basin.
